My recent work trip to Danang, Vietnam, turned into a little special, all thanks to a random YouTube video that gave me the idea to get some clothes tailored. That led me to a real hidden gem, Ly’s Tailor, and the incredible Mr. Ly himself.

I took a chance and just WhatsApped them about a week before my trip. I told them my time was super tight, only 3 or 4 days, but that I was serious about getting some tailoring made. I really didn’t expect a reply. But not only did they reply, they actually believed me! They committed their time, dedicating themselves to my commissions for the entire duration of my stay. That level of trust and service before I even got there was just mindblowing.

When I arrived, any worries about language disappeared. A young gentleman and their good friend John was there. He’s a really good translator, and he also gave me fantastic tips on fabrics and styles. He’s a sartorial pro.

The whole process was so efficient. Everything is done in-house, which is why they are a true boutique tailor. Within two hours of my first visit, after choosing my suit fabric and getting my measurements taken, they already had the jacket’s structure ready for a first fitting. It was so fast and precise.

For the next two days, they went above and beyond. They extended their hours late into the night for my second fitting. On the third night, we had one last fitting, and they made the final adjustments on the spot. I walked out with a perfectly fitted suit, two shirts, and an extra pair of trousers. The fit was so perfect that I felt confident enough to commission another two pairs of pants and two shirts for them to ship back to me in Singapore.

I’m so grateful to Mr. Ly and his team. My new wardrobe of custom fitted clothes is ready for my work and personal style. I hope I can go back one day, not just for more clothes, but to just hang out and have a drink with them. To Mr. Ly and the team, thank you so much.
